Abstract:
The case deals with Wal-Mart's decision to enter into India and establish its retail stores in the country. The case analyses the market entry strategy that a global retail giant should adopt in an emerging market. It gives an understanding of the critical success factors of Wal-Mart and analyses the potential of the Indian retail industry. It also discusses the various challenges that Wal-Mart might face in India and whether the domestic retail companies would be able to compete against Wal-Mart. The question that the case aspires to answer is whether Wal-Mart would be successful in India and what strategy should it adopt to capture the Indian market?
